Fortnite is still around, lurking in the background of many a gamer's library. Whether or not you're an avid player, you can usually tell what's in style by seeing what kinds of toys they're adding and who they're inviting. The Fortnite crew has included such famous names as Thanos the Mad Titan to the unshakeable underground assassin superstar John Wick.
With every new season that comes, the game changes in various ways and you stand to lose any things that you've earned and haven't spent or any incomplete missions. The time is ticking away and who knows what the next seasons will bring?
The current season features Fortnite's partnership with Marvel called Absolute Doom. While this may be a missed opportunity to throw in some space marines and hellspawn, they tried to make up for it by having Dr. Doom be a present threat. Of course, to fight the villain, you need a hero, and the game was generous enough to let players play the part.
They got access to costumes and gear from such big names as Captain America, Black Panther, Wolverine, Warmachine, and more. However, there are only so many opportunities remaining to take the fight to the bad doctor and put an end to absolute doom.
How does a Fortnite Season (Battle Pass) work?
Despite all the dazzling and dizzying transformations that it's gone through, the Fortnite season system has been there since the game's first year of launch. It was designed as a way to keep things fresh, to keep players coming back, and to somewhat reset their progress each time. This gave them a reason to revisit and build themselves back up with bells and whistles while trying out new mechanics, features and new maps.

This is more commonly known as the Battle Pass system. What you do is that you buy a pass for the season and this serves as a way to track your progress as you play games, complete tasks, and just generally mess around. There are timed events to keep you motivated and pull you in with limited chances to get certain items as well as a shop that constantly rotates stock.
Of course, if you have access to the universal cheat code known as "lots of money", you can just buy whatever you want when it becomes available.
Seasons are not consistent in their timelines, and the most recent structure is breaking it into Chapters with each one having several seasons within. Each season tends to last around three months - we're still in the middle of Chapter 5, Season 4: Absolute Doom.
When is this Fortnite Season ending (and what is the next one)?
According to Fortnite's official website, Absolute Doom is scheduled to end on November 2nd. However, these dates aren't set in stone and can change based on player response, development plans, and technical issues. Though it hasn't been confirmed, there are posts hinting that the next season will see a return to Fortnite OG (the original maps, avatars, and mechanics) before Chapter 6 begins sometime after, with a theme/partnership TBD.
